Antique 19th Century Hand-Turned Wooden Treen Charger Plaque – Original Folk Art Oil Painting of a Flute Player & Companion 14" Diameter
Product Overview
An exceptional piece of authentic antique American or European folk art Treen. This massive, heavy 14" hand-turned solid hardwood plaque features an original, primitive oil painting depicting a gentleman playing a flute to a companion in a forest clearing. The clothing styles—including the gentleman's tailcoat and the woman's full skirt and wrap—strongly suggest an early-to-mid 19th-century scene.
Executed directly onto the wood, the painting boasts a wonderful rustic character with a deeply aged, dark palette that beautifully contrasts with the natural exposed wood grain of the wide rim.
Condition Report
Excellent Antique Condition: The piece has a spectacular, untouched rustic patina. The painted surface displays a natural, heavy craquelure and minor historic paint loss/wear that beautifully validates its age.
Structure:
The heavy, hand-turned wooden body is rock solid with no structural splits or warping. The reverse displays gorgeous natural wood grain patterning, historic tool marks from the turning lathe, and an old hand-written pencil inventory number in the center ring.
