This Vintage Crown Trifari Blue Crystal Chrysanthemum Flower Brooch is attributed to the legendary jewelry designer Alfred Philippe.
The Blue Crystal Chrysanthemum Flower is highly sought after, this absolutely stunning piece is very rare in numbers and especially as preserved as this one here.
Motif: A highly detailed, multi-layered chrysanthemum or starburst floral layout
Stones: The centerpiece features a dense domed cluster of sapphire-blue crystals, surrounded by gold-tone textured petals inlaid with shimmering clear rhinestones.
Significance: Alfred Philippe brought his background in fine jewelry design (having previously worked for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels) to costume jewelry. This specific piece showcases his signature technique of layering metals and stone settings to create depth, realism, and a high-end luxury look.
The brooch was released sometime between 1955-1958 when Alfred Philippe was designing some of his most famous flower designs, most of them these multi-layered style.
The brooch is absolutely stunning and the pictures just dont do the justice of how pretty this piece is.
All stones are clean, clear and glimmer with the faceted shape of the top.
The gold plating appears to be in good condition. It is not a bright gold but yet a subtle gold tone. Some spots when you look under magnification the top coat does look worn. But again I put it under 50x magnification to find that and also captured it in the pictures for you to see how little it effects the appearance.
It does need a careful polish as to preserve the plating. On the back the gold plating has come off just a tiny bit around the name.
The clasp is tight and secure, no bends in the pin at all.
Overall it does not look as though this was worn much if at all.
